Re: West Ham support?
I lived in goodmayes - it was essex to me.

No 238 bus to barking and a no. 5 to the ground.

If we won, we would always walk back via the fish and chip shop and get chips and a pickled onion.

This was the 70s. Fantastic times.

Of course it's Essex. Not even a debate to be had.

When I was a kid, it was east London, but from the 60s, people were moving out. It must be Essex and by a country mile.

It's changed so fast.

When I started going in the 80s, most still lived in London. I was from Laindon, "Out in the sticks," as the Mile End and Canning Town lads would say.

There were loads that came from Essex on the trains, but I got the impression it was far less than both those walking to the ground and those who had a short tube ride.

Re: West Ham support?
I agree most support on match day is Essex based, I would still however say there are more supporters living in London than Essex regardless of whether they attend regularly or not

Re: West Ham support?
West Ham was in Essex until the boundary changes in 1965. As the biggest football club based in the county there is a lot of historical support for the club in Essex which has continued through the generations.

Re: West Ham support?
Steady, you're over egging the populous there.

If we're talking London born and raised within the last 30 years, I'd say London. I'm East End born and raised and the only reason I follow West Ham is the amount of kids around me at the time who did. My family are otherwise all Gooners.

Now, with less traditional East Enders living with what is considered London, the chances are that you'll find more West Ham in the Home Counties with Essex and Kent taking large numbers of that current support. I live in Kent now as an example.

But it's also what you or more factually is considered part of the Home Counties. As far as North Ockendon is considered to be in greater London in Essex and as far as Orpington in Kent.

Re: West Ham support?
London over 10 mill population, Essex less than 2 mill. London I would say by far for West Ham support
